The Saskatoon Council on Aging is hosting the Caregiver Forum 2026, which is centered around the theme of caring together.
Jennifer White, SCOA’s Community Connector for Social Prescribing, says that caregiving can be isolating at times and this forum will give caregivers support from people going through the same experiences.
“While caregiving can be meaningful and full of love, it also can be exhausting and isolating and overwhelming at times too. So, this day is particularily about creating a space for caregivers. If caregiving teaches us anything at all, I would say it’s that we’re not meant to do it alone.”
She adds that caretakers socializing with one another can be beneficial for their health.
“We strongly believe in the power and strength of social connection. With my role as the Community Connector for Social Prescribing, there’s a significant tie in to just the power of connection for your brain health and just health in general.”
The forum will be held on Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Silverspring, Doors open at 10 am. Tickets are available at scoa.ca.
