A news release issued Friday indicates the Regina Urgent Care Centre (UCC) will operate with shorter hours on Saturday open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the UCC closed entirely on Sunday.
The news release say regular hours return Monday and that the service adjustments are to accommodate physician availability.
Residents experiencing medical emergencies are advised to call 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency department.
NDP Shadow Minister of Health is Meara Conway. In a news release she says, “We’ve been asking from day one what the plan was to staff this Urgent Care Centre, and this government still doesn’t have an answer.”
When first proposed and then built the Urgent Care Centre was supposed to be staffed 24 hours a day. Regular operating hours for the UCC are from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The new Urgent Care Centre in Saskatoon was more than a quarter complete last fall and is being built on the former Pleasant Hill School site at 215 Avenue S South, near St. Paul’s Hospital.
