The tour, initiated by the Terry Fox Foundation, recognizes the long-standing support Sun West schools have given the annual Terry Fox Run. Davidson School has notably raised the highest funds among Saskatchewan schools for over a decade.
Fred Fox never imagined he would play a part in one of Canada’s most inspiring stories when he watched Terry set out on his Marathon of Hope in April 1980. He joined his brother on the road a few times that summer, witnessing firsthand the remarkable way Canadians embraced Terry’s mission.
“Fred’s commitment to Terry’s cancer research legacy never wavered,” said the Foundation. He led the Foundation’s British Columbia office from 1994 to 2001, then moved to the National Office in 2009 as Manager of Supporter Relations.
Throughout the year, Fred speaks at schools and community events, sharing personal memories of growing up with Terry and experiences from the Marathon of Hope. He is also dedicated to recognizing the volunteers who have helped the Foundation raise over $1 billion for cancer research.
Together with his siblings, Fred continues to protect and promote Terry’s legacy, and he has served on the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program Board of Directors.
Fred and his wife Theresa are parents to three grown children, Terrance, Kirsten, and Erin, and grandparents to Jonah, Phoebe, and Adelina.
