The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to a city transit bus that had come to a standstill in the 200 block of 23rd Street East because of a weapon on board.
This was around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and the report specifically mentioned a confrontation involving a weapon.
Arriving officers located those involved and while no injuries were reported one of the individuals believed part of the confrontation was in possession of a hatchet.
A 20-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon.
About 12 hours later, the Saskatoon Police Service says bear spray was deployed on a city bus in the area of Auditorium Avenue and 22nd Street East which is by TCU Place.
The call came in at 10:45 p.m. and the investigation determined that a large group of youth were on the bus and began arguing.
As some of the passengers involved began getting off the bus, bear spray was discharged and then those who were part of the incident fled in different directions.
The Patrol Unit continues to investigate.
