The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit is investigating a suspicious death on Canoe Lake Cree First Nation.
On March 16th, Beauval RCMP received a report that a woman was receiving treatment in the hospital for serious injuries. She died of her injuries the next day and has been identified as a 51-year-old woman from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU took carriage of the investigation with the assistance of North Battleford Forensic Identification Services, North Battleford Serious Crimes Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Initial investigation determined that the death is suspicious in nature and HIU continues to investigate.
Anyone with information can report it to the RCMP or Crime Stoppers. Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence in Canoe Lake Cree First Nation for an undetermined amount of time.
