The Saskatoon Police Service made an arrest after a mugging on a problematic area of Confederation Drive.
Around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday two males approached a female in the 300 block of Confederation Drive and tried to steal her purse. When a physical altercation ensued, the suspects sprayed the victim with bear spray and fled on foot.
With assistance from Community Support Officers, police located a suspect and took him into custody. A 15-year-old male is charged with Robbery, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction, and breaching court-imposed conditions.
Last year the Saskatoon Police Service conducted a retail blitz multiple times in that area of the city. Project SHIELD is intended to address situations where shoplifting is observed, weapons are present, and the threat of violence is evident towards staff, Loss Prevention Officers, security personnel and shoppers.
