The 99th anniversary edition of the Montana’s Brier, Canadian Men’s Curling Championship, starts today and runs through Sunday, March 6th in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. There are 18 teams taking part – 14 provincial and territorial champions, three wild-card qualifiers and the defending champions. The 18 teams are split into two pools of nine each for preliminary round-robin play, followed by playoffs. Among the 18 teams are the Mike McEwen foursome from Saskatoon in Pool B and the Kelly Knapp quartet from Regina in Pool A. Neither of those teams is on the opening, and only draw today at 10 p.m., Saskatchewan Time.
