River City Technology Services of Saskatoon has created software that aims to limit rural crime.

The BeeSecure system notifies the owner when the object is in motion, feeling vibration as slight as a car door or drawer shelf opening.

Founder and CEO Jeff Shirley says the system will send the owner a text when it’s in motion.

Farmer Jim Etter tested the system, and says it’s easy to use.

“With the costs of everything these days…so if you can get some security like that for under 2 hundred dollars per unit, or quite a bit less, you know, it makes sense. It really does.”

The system was developed as part of the Innovation Saskatchewan Rural Crime challenge, with this idea being the winner. (CKRM Regina)
