The Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit is asking for the public’s help in connection to the suspicious death of 39-year-old Stacey Badger. She was from Mistawasis First Nation.
The investigation got underway on the morning of February 4th when Prince Albert RCMP responded to a report of a truck stuck in a field about 40 kilometers east of Prince Albert, off of Highway #302.
The truck was previously reported as stolen on January 29th and was subsequently towed to a business on 41st Street East in Prince Albert.
Prince Albert Police responded to a fire at that same business three days later where multiple vehicles were on fire including the stolen truck that had been dropped off there. The fire was put out by the Prince Albert Fire Department which determined the blaze was suspicious.
Prince Albert Police contacted the RCMP on February 9th because during the investigation into the fire, a deceased person was found in the stolen truck that had been towed.
Police say the Stacey Badger’s death is suspicious and the RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit is asking anyone with information about this incident, or if someone witnessed suspicious activity in the area of 41st Street East in Prince Albert between the evening of February 6th and the morning of February 7th, please report it to police immediately. Investigators also ask anyone who had recent contact with Stacey Badger to please contact police.
Investigators have checked surrounding neighbourhoods for witnesses and video captured on security cameras and doorbell cameras. The Homicide Investigation Unit continues to collect and analyze evidence.
