For the second week in a row gas prices went up in Saskatoon, this time by 4.1 cents per litre averaging 124.24 c/L Sunday. That’s according to GasBuddy.com’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon.
The national average increased 2.4 c/L in the last week to 126.60 c/L. Despite the increase GasBuddy says prices Sunday were 27.0 c/L lower in Saskatoon than the same day a year ago.
In a news release Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy said, “Prices rose in every province, reinforcing the recent upward trend. There’s still a window of opportunity to revisit- or even beat- recent lows, but that window will begin to close soon as seasonal factors start to take hold.
He notes that with the transition back to summer gasoline approaching in the months ahead and oil prices firming, upward pressure is likely to build, though localized discounts remain possible in some areas before the seasonal increases become more established.
