Environment Canada says Saskatchewan has to say goodbye to the above-seasonal temperatures it’s been experiencing recently. 

Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says a cold front is bringing back some typical winter weather, meaning temperatures in the minus teens, plus winds that will warrant a warning. 

“Certain areas such as North Battleford coming to Saskatoon, Kindersley-south, and the Wascana Basin, that’s where we’re expecting the wind to get a little bit stronger, so 70 gusting to 90 kilometres an hour; maybe even higher than 90 kilometres an hour.”

She adds that the recent melt paired with a plunge into colder temperatures could make for some icy roads.

On the bright side, she says the recent thaw also means there likely won’t be any blowing snow, but travel during these next few days could still be quite dangerous. She also advises the public to strap down anything loose that they don’t want blown over. 

Desjardins says seasonal temperatures will persist into next week, possibly with a bit of reprieve by the 24th-25th weekend.
