Saskatchewan RCMP say they continue to investigate a shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation that led to a dangerous persons alert on December 30th. They are also investigating reports of a firearm being discharged on Big Island Lake Cree Nation on January 2nd. Currently, investigators have not determined if these incidents are connected.
RCMP say that on January 2nd shots were fired and bullets struck multiple residences on Big Island Lake Cree Nation. No one reported injuries to police.
Inspector Ashley St. Germaine, senior investigative officer with Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch, is urging area residents to share information with the police. She says, “If you saw something, say something.”
St. Germaine says while their investigators continue to collect and analyze evidence, including video surveillance, eyewitness accounts will be key to providing answers to the victims and their families.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigators also continue to work to identify and locate the suspects involved in the December 30th shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation that resulted in one death, left three injured and led to a dangerous persons alert. The deceased is a 31-year-old man and suspects are still at large.
