Saskatoon City Council will be hearing from 14 concerned residents regarding a councilor’s idea to relocate Wildwood Golf Course Wednesday.
Ward 10 Councilor Zach Jeffries proposed the idea to make room for additional residential housing. He also asked Administration to report back on the feasibility of the move. He hopes to determine the short- and long-term financial implications, future level of service for users, and how redevelopment could contribute to our corridor planning and infill development targets.
However, Saskatoon residents aren’t having it. One man who submitted comments to Council on Wednesday, Darrell Lutzko, wrote that “Other than the DEED, this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of.”
Another writing resident, Joanne Ferguson, says the course is home to numerous skiing groups in the winter, including the Saskatoon Blind Skiers. Bradley Neabel writes “I thought our city was supposed to be pedestrian friendly. So how is moving a recreation facility outside the city supposed to help with that?”
The discussion will take place Wednesday at City Hall.
