The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) says soil moisture levels are near adequate in eastern areas of the province, while soil moisture deficits are in western areas and the northern grainbelt.
Current long-range weather forecasts suggest slightly above normal precipitation and below temperatures over the winter months. At this point, there are no areas where WSA believes there is a heightened risk of above normal spring runoff in 2026.
WSA will conduct snow surveys in multiple locations over the winter to assess conditions, prior to issuing the runoff report. The preliminary Spring Runoff Outlook for 2026 will likely be issued in March or April.
