The second-longest current losing streak in the W-H-L now belongs to the Saskatoon Blades following a 4-0 setback to the visiting Regina Pats Sunday.

The result upped the Bridge City Bunch’s losing skid to five games and put the brakes on a seven-game losing streak for Regina. Only the Swift Current Broncos are on a longer current skid with eight consecutive losses. Matthew Hutchison stopped 32 shots for his first shutout of the season and his W-H-L career. The only goal he needed in support came in the first period from 18-year-old Russian winger Ruslan Karimov – who also added two assists. Matt Paranych, Zachary Lansard and Julien Maze also tallied for the Pats, now 10-16-3 for the season. The victory also ended a run of four consecutive head-to-head losses to the Blue and Gold for Regina, as well as eight straight home-ice victories for the Blades over the Pats – dating back to March 19, 2023. It was the first time this season that the Blue and Gold failed to score a goal in a game. However, the Blades are now goal-less in their last five periods, plus 43 seconds and have been out-scored 26-11 during their last five games. For the season, Saskatoon is 14-13-2 with their next game coming up Tuesday in Moose Jaw.
