This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. Our news poll question is do you trust AI? I don’t. Just Google something and see the Ai answer. It aggregates possibles which are quite often not what I am looking for or too generalized to give the full picture. Not. At. All. Reliable. I don’t know if you heard about this but the Independent – an east coast news outlet – reported that a more than 500-page report for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador contained false references. Deloitte Canada generated that report. And the company says it stands behind the recommendations put forward in the report. A company spokesperson in a statement to Fortune says that they were revising the report to “make a small number of citation corrections, which do not impact the report findings”. Um….what? The report cost $1.6 million dollars, and any kind of corrections should generate some kind of skepticism. And hopefully, will serve as a lesson for all governments in Canada be it municipal, provincial or federal that there has to be rigorous controls around the use of AI which includes vetting by actual, real, live experts.
AI has a long way to go
