The five-game winless streak is over for the Saskatoon Blades!

Despite the best efforts of Swift Current’s Joey Rocha, the Bridge City Bunch weren’t about to get “goaltended” again as the Blue and Gold upended the Broncos 4-1 on Remembrance Day Tuesday in Speedy Creek. The Blades pelted the Swifty net with a season-high 53 shots with Rocha stopping 49, several of the outstanding variety. Hunter Laing (pictured) scored twice on the power play with Jack Kachkowski notching the winning goal and David Lewandowski adding a big insurance tally in the third period. Lewandowski added an assist for a two-point game while Dominik Petr and Tristen Doyle each chipped in a pair of helpers on the Laing man advantage markers. Evan Gardner stopped 23 shots to extinguish his own personal five-game winless skid. The only blemish on his outing came late in the second period on a Trae Wilkie short-handed goal that made it 2-1 after two periods. Saskatoon is now 11-8-2 as they head into Alberta this weekend for games Friday in Calgary and Saturday in Red Deer. Swift Current is 1-8-1 in their last 10 games after the setback, 7-11-1 overall.
