SaskPower announced today that the construction of the Aspen Power Station near Lanigan has generated $558 million for local businesses.
The money has been committed to 189 Saskatchewan businesses through the Aspen Power Station project. Over $260 million will go to Indigenous-owned businesses and $25 point 5 million will go to nine women-owned businesses.
Sean Wilson, the Legislative Secretary for the Minister Responsible for SaskPower says the project exceeded all of the procurement targets that were set and credits the success to all of the construction contracts being with Canadian companies, and 18 out of 19 being from Saskatchewan.
Including design and procurement, the project, which began in the spring of 2024, is nearing the halfway point of it’s completion.
