The Official Opposition is demanding that the minister of advanced education put forwards a plan to prevent further layoffs at post-secondary schools.
A release from the NDP says Minister Ken Cheveldayoff has “sat on his hands over four rounds of layoffs at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.” Nearly 130 staff members at Saskatchewan Polytechnic have been let go so far, allegedly due to a decrease in international student enrolment.
Advanced Education Critic Tajinder Grewal explains that this is a time where the province needs more skilled workers, and instead the government is choosing to terminate the people responsible for educating our future leaders.
Grewal is demanding Minister Cheveldayoff present a plan to the media today, to prevent all further layoffs at Saskatchewan post-secondary schools.
