The Gold Eagle Casino, currently located off Railway Avenue East in North Battleford, will be undergoing a relocation and expansion in the coming years.

The casino’s future home has been designated at a 67-acre site along Highway 16 West, on the city’s west entrance, in the south of the existing Riverview neighbourhood. Future development will include a hotel, convention centre, and cultural gathering space.

The land was secured by the Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation, and the $100-million project will be one of the largest single investments ever undertaken by a Saskatchewan First Nation.

Chief Tanya Aguilar-Antiman says “This investment allows us to focus development in one area, making our efforts stronger, more efficient, and more impactful. It’s a strategic decision that will benefit our members today and for generations to come.”

Residents of North Battleford can expect some public consultation as the project moves forward. A news release from MGBHLM First Nation says an early feasibility assessment suggests that the casino, hotel and convention centre project is expected to generate 350 construction job and 400 long term positions, while generating millions in new annual tourism revenue, and attracting more than half a million visitors each year.
