Just another reason why dogs are considered man’s best friend. 

Earlier this month, Outlook woman Ivy Reid was taking her dog, Lady, to the groomers in Whitecap when she decided to stop and purchase a LOTTO 6/49 ticket at Whitecap Trail Gas.  

Several days later, while getting a slushy for a friend, Reid checked the ticket and revealed her $5 million prize. At first, Reid saw a five followed by several zeros and assumed it was only $50. That was until the cashier corrected her that it was, in fact, $5 million. She immediately went home to get her friend, Mike.    

 “I was shaking, he was shaking, the guy behind the counter was shaking,” she recalls. 

 With the money, she plans to finish up some house renovations and reward Lady with a new bed. 

“I’ll be out of debt for the first time in my life, really. I’m still overwhelmed. I still can’t quite believe it.” 

 Alongside the large cheque, SaskLotteries presented Reid with a slushy machine of her own, as she had forgotten to bring home the sweet treat in all of the excitement.
