Today is the autumnal equinox signaling the first day of fall. And Saskatchewan closed out summer on a hot note.
On the last day of summer 16 new hot weather records were tied or new ones set.
The hot spot in the country was Indian Head with a daytime high of 31.5 degrees Celsius but that didn’t actually set a new record.
The longest standing record to be broken, after 108 years, was the Scott area where the mercury reached 30.1 degrees besting the record set in 1917 of 29.4 degrees.
Prince Albert reached 27.9 degrees Sunday and Saskatoon topped out at 30.5 degrees Celsius, neither of which was enough to set a new record.
