A residential school survivor says reconciliation is gaining momentum in Saskatoon.
Neil Kewistep says that’s one reason today’s “Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation” continues to thrive in the city.
The third annual event to honour survivors and their families starts at 10 o’clock this morning at Victoria Park. The theme for the walk is “Planting the Seed”.
Kewistep admits work has just begun toward reconciliation but says Saskatoon is well equipped to take on the challenge because of the wide cross section of people in the city committed to that goal.
He points out there are close to 90 organizations in Reconciliation Saskatoon.
After the walk, the Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre is hosting an afternoon of National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations in Victoria Park beginning at 12:30.
