Contrary to earlier reports, the City of Regina says no wastewater was released into Wascana Creek last Saturday, September 13th.
In a news release, the City of Regina states that although flow rates reached high levels and warning alarms indicated a bypass may be imminent, the wastewater management system maintained sufficient capacity for the full duration of the storm. It was initially reported that as much as 1.3 million litres of wastewater went into Wascana Creek during a heavy downpour.
The City of Regina has passed on the information to downstream users.
