Three goaltenders, seven defencemen and 14 forwards. That’s the breakdown of the 24 players still on the Saskatoon Blades’ roster after the Bridge City Bunch announced the deletion of four players Monday morning.
Left winger Colten Worthington (pictured) was outright released by the Blue and Gold after playing 48 games as a rookie last season with five points, including two goals. The other three rookie hopefuls were re-assigned – 17-year-old goaltender Ryley Budd, 17-year-old defenceman Nathan Guenther and 16-year-old left winger Mason Moreland. Saskatoon has three players currently away at N-H-L rookie camps – goaltender Evan Gardner with Columbus plus forwards David Lewandowski with Edmonton and Hunter Laing with Calgary. The Bridge City Bunch begins the regular season Friday in Prince Albert, then host the Raiders Saturday for the Blue and Gold’s home opener at SaskTel Centre. Blades trim roster to 24 players following preseason finale in Martensville
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades split their home-and-home weekend against the Moose Jaw Warriors to conclude their 2025 Western Hockey League preseason. The Bridge City Bunch handed the Warriors a 4-2 loss Friday on the road at Temple Gardens Centre in Moose Jaw. In their first preseason game ever at the new Martensville Recreation Centre in Martensville, SK, the Blades fell short 4-3 in the final game of exhibition.
The Blades begin their regular season Friday, Sept. 19 at the Art Hauser Centre against the Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00pm. Saskatoon’s home opener presented by Go Merlin Ford Lincoln is the following evening at SaskTel Centre at 7:00pm in a rematch between the two Highway 11 rivals.
