With the school year starting back up, it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things after a long summer break.
Dulcie Puobi is the Principal at Sylvia Fedoruk School and says there are ways to help ease back into routine such as using this week before the first day of school as a good way to start adjusting bedtime routines. She says some find it helpful to put out clothing for the next day, the night before.
She says caregivers can help students feeling a bit apprehensive about starting school by having conversations about expectations. “Talking about your own special experiences at school that were positive gets them thinking in a positive way to start the school year.”
She says the division’s website, as well as any of the school’s websites, have all the information for the year including calendars, transportation and any other school-related information needed.
The school principal says those needing to register for the school year can do so online at www.spsd.sk.ca or in-person at the division’s central office. Caregivers can also register students at any elementary school on August 28th between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
