Let’s talk chocolate bars.  I can hear some ears perking up.    Growing up I fondly recall two types of pure milk chocolate bars, Neilsen Jersey Milk and Cadbury Dairy Milk.  Dairy Milk dates back to 1905 and Jersey Milk to 1924.  I liked them both.   Fast forward to 2025 and it appears Jersey Milk bars which are only produced in Canada, are about to disappear.   Apparently, consumers have shifted to buying other pure milk bars like Dairy Milk.  There’s also Hershey’s and Lindt for example.  If you want to be sure it’s Canadian when your sweet tooth is prodding you to buy some type of a chocolate bar there are some such as Turkish Delight, Mr. Big, Skor, Crispy Crunch, Twix, Rolo, Bounty, Wunderbar, Coffee Crisp, Caramilk, and of course, Dairy Milk.   If you’re non-political and don’t care whether your favourite bar is from the states, there’s Kit Kat, Mr. Goodbar, Snickers, Milky Way, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfinger, Bountry, Mars Bar, and good old Oh Henry.  A Canadian chocolate bar that was my grandma’s favourite was Sweet Marie.  I say was not just because she’s gone but so is Sweet Marie.  It was discontinued in 2013.  They say nothing is forever but some things stay the same for a long time thank good ness, like my two favourite chocolate bars, Dairy Milk and Oh Henry.  Well, OK, let’s make it three by adding Caramilk to the list.
