The Explosive Disposal Unit seized an explosive device for destruction after responding to a call from an automotive salvage compound in the Hudson Bay Industrial area of Saskatoon last Friday.

Officers responded around 9:45 a.m. to a call from a compound in the 100 block of English Crescent where an explosive device was found in a salvaged vehicle.

Police confirmed it was a commercial grade explosive and advised area businesses to shelter in place. The Explosive Disposal Unit secured the device and seized it for destruction withouth incident.

The Saskatoon Police Service cleared the scene a short time later and lifted the shelter in place.
