There were 36 entries in the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation high school video contest with a school from Prince Albert winning the $10-thousand grand prize and a school from Eatonia winning the gold star prize of $75-hundred for having the video with the most views.
A teacher at Wesmore Public High School in Prince Albert, Colette Daelick, says they are a small school with just over 300 students, of which 95 per cent are First Nations and Metis.
They will be doing a student survey to figure out how to spend their winnings.
The principal at Eaton School, Lisa King, believes this project was an example of how small town pride played a part in getting their over 13-thousand views.
She says it really helped build school culture and a sense of pride.
