Lloydminster RCMP say a power substation in the border city was deliberately targeted on Monday morning.
Officers responded to the power outage at 4:40 a.m. after a gun was fired at an oil tank which resulted in a significant power outage and the release of 20,000 litres of oil. During the outage there were break ins at several locations which are also now under investigation.
RCMP say they believe the outage was deliberately caused but at this time no evidence suggests the break ins are related.
Lloydminster RCMP are asking for the public’s help and if any area residents have dashcam or other video footage that may have captured a suspect or suspects in the area, to please contact Lloydminster RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
