Trans Canada Trail has awarded $18,000 to community groups in Saskatchewan and Meewasin Trail is one of them.
It’s all part of the national organization’s annual Trail Care Grant Program which encourages volunteer engagement along the Trail which stretches nationwide.
The five-week clean-up campaign on Meewasin Trail was selected where MVA can see up to 3,000 volunteers who are provided with garbage bags, gloves, information on how to pick garbage safely, and a map of all the garbage bins Loraas donated for the program’s use. Volunteers choose whatever area they are closest to to clean
Other trails in Saskatchewan receiving the benefit of funding from Trans Canada Trail include clearing debris and damaged trees on the Elbow Trail; shoreline cleanup along Wascana Creek on the Saw Whet-Deer Valley Trail; tree planting, fence repair, sign replacement and trail levelling on the Wakamow Valley Trail and a trail maintenance day on the Sandy Shores Resort Trail.
