The December Traffic Safety Spotlight is on giving your friends and family a safe ride home during the holidays.
SGI’s Jeremy Pilon says we all know it’s that time for celebration with holiday parties with work, with family and with friends. He says they are encouraging Saskatchewan drivers to take that extra step before they go out and celebrate and make sure there is a safe drive home.
In 2023, 29 people were killed and 338 were injured in impaired driving collisions. Some of the options suggested include designating a sober driver or volunteering to be one is an option, especially in rural areas. He also suggests calling a sober friend or family member, taking the bus, catch a cab or a rideshare or if possible, stay the night.
Operation Red Nose is a season safe ride option as well in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and the Battleford’s area.
