Fittingly enough, Evan Gardner and Zach Olsen played a big role in the Saskatoon Blades’ Friday night victory on Diabetes Awareness Night.

Both are Type 1 diabetics with Gardner stopping 30 shots and Olsen scoring a goal as the Bridge City Bunch downed the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-1. It was the eighth straight win at home for the Blue and Gold as they upped their record to 16-6-2. Brandon Lisowsky, Rowan Calvert and Lukas Hansen also scored for the Blades in front of 3,650 fans at SaskTel Centre. Saskatoon returns to action Saturday night when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 6:45.
