The 20 year old man who killed four people and injured seven others in La Loche is appealing the sentencing decision. He was given life with no chance of parole for 10 years. The shooter was sentenced as an adult although he was just shy of his 18th birthday when he killed two teenage brothers, a teacher, and a teacher’s aide in January of 2016. His name won’t be released until the appeal process is exhausted. No date has been set for the appeal. It is unlikely to be scheduled before the Court of Appeal’s fall sitting.
