The second season of a children’s television program produced in Saskatchewan, where all the story writers and cast are indigenous, premieres tomorrow (Fri), on National Indigenous Peoples Day. Stories of the North, produced by Campfire Stories of Saskatoon, is about a Cree mooshum, or grandfather, and his two daughters. Through story, he teaches them how to speak their traditional language.
One of the writers this season, Erin Goodpipe, says, “Indigenous people and culture is, and has been underrepresented in media, and Stories of the North bridges this gap by providing fun and intimate stories for viewers to learn language and peer into Indigenous culture and experiences in the North. You can watch the show on CityTV.
