An officer with Combined Traffic Service Saskatchewan tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on Highway #40 near Neilburg on Thursday but the vehicle, instead of pulling over, stopped, reversed and backed into the police cruiser. The vehicle then drove forward, turned around, and drove into the police vehicle, head on, twice.
A passing civilian motorist intervened and and rammed the suspect vehicle and disabled it. A man and a woman got out of the the suspect vehicle and ran into a wooded area on foot.
Officers from the Cut Knife, Maidstone, Lloydminster and Unity detachments joined the search. A woman was found and arrested, but the male suspect remains at large. The officer driving the police vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man is described as being in his mid 30s to 40s, 6 feet tall, 180 to 190 pounds, with black hair. He was wearing a black or blue t-shirt, a dark-coloured ball cap, blue jeans, white running shoes and a grey or black medical mask or bandanna.
