A steam powered locomotive will be rolling through southern Saskatchewan as part of the Final Spike Steam Tour.
It will kick off this Wednesday at the CPKC head office in Calgary Alberta while also stopping in Moose Jaw, southeast Saskatchewan, and Minot, North Dakota.
Terry Cunha, spokesperson for CPKC, talks about the locomotive which he says will be using its original engine that has been refurbished and using water to undertake the journey. He suggests it will be exciting for anyone who is an enthusiast of rail or trains and the rail history because this is the evolution trains transitioning from steam to diesel locomotive.
The steam engine will start its six-week trek from Calgary going to Mexico City and this tour will also mark the one-year anniversary of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Kansas City Rail merging.
