At 11:30 p.m. on April 5th, Meadow Lake RCMP performed a routine traffic stop in Green Lake. The vehicle did not stop and fled from the police. Officers did not pursue it after assessing the public safety risk, however the Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team was called for assistance.
For safety reasons, a spike belt was set up and the suspect vehicle ran over it on St. Cyr Road, approximately 500 meters north of Highway #55. The suspect vehicle continued to travel for another 1.5 kilometers before coming to a stop. Officers located ammunition in the vehicle.
To follow, officers found two rifles with ammunition on the side of Highway #55 that the suspects had thrown out of their vehicle before their arrest.
Thirty-eight-year-old Andrew Daigneault, 25-year-old Tiana Gardiner, 29-year-old Sheldon Hanson, and 32-year-old Floyd Morin, all from Ile-la-Crosse, were arrested.
Daigneault and Morin appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Monday, and Gardiner and Hanson are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 13.
