Following 429 incidents in 2023 where drivers failed to pull over for a police traffic stop, the Prince Albert Police Service and several partner agencies have developed an operational plan to address ‘flight from police’ situations.
On both March 18th and 19th, the PA police service was able to arrest two separate Prince Albert men that had evaded police, thanks to assistance from the Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit, Crime Reduction Team, Prince Albert RCMP, and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan.
On the 18th, an offender fled from police near Marquis Drive and 2nd Avenue West. Use of the SPS Air Support Unit was critical in tracking the 25-year-old Prince Albert man down and let to his eventual arrest near Kinistino.
On the 19th, PA officers noticed a stolen vehicle driving at high rates of speed in the west end of Prince Albert. The vehicle evaded a police attempt at a traffic stop; however, a tire deflation device was deployed, and the occupants were taken into custody within minutes.
The PA Police Service extends its gratitude to its partners for their commitment to safety regardless of jurisdiction.
