Saskatoon recorded its third and fourth homicides of 2024 over the Family Day long weekend.
Saskatoon police have charged a 24-year-old man with 2nd degree murder in connection to the homicide on Monday in the 200 block of 20th Street West, the City’s fourth homicide of the year. He is also charged with breaching a probation order. Around ten to two in the afternoon on Monday, patrol officers responded to a stabbing and report that the suspect fled before they arrived. A 35-year-old man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The 24-year-old is expected to make his first court appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Wednesday.
Around 12:25 Saturday morning, officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Avenue I South where they discovered a 48-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He passed away from his injury soon after being taken to hospital for treatment and is considered Saskatoon’s third homicide of 2024.
