The three month forecast looks good for campers, but not so promising for farmers and ranchers.
Weather Network Meteorologist Nadine Powell says all of Saskatchewan can expect lower than normal precipitation and above normal temperatures.
“We are looking at perhaps the mid-to-upper twenties or even into the low thirties in some instances, as opposed to the low-to-mid twenties.”
A high pressure ridge is expected to keep things warm and dry this summer.
“Typically when you have ridges across an area, they tend to be the areas with warmer conditions because you get a lot of sinking air,” says Powell. “As air sinks, it compresses and warms up.”
She adds summer precipitation will generally come from thunderstorms that will be very concentrated and localized.
