The Prince Albert Police Service continues to investigate a single vehicle accident which happened early Sunday morning in the 1000 block of 22nd Street. Police say the investigation to date has confirmed there was a second vehicle and suspects from that vehicle fired a gun and injured the driver of the first vehicle. The victim lost control and that’s what caused the accident. The 22-year-old remains in hospital recovering from his injuries.
The Police Service says it wasn’t reported at first that a firearm was involved, to protect the integrity of the investigation. Officers believe the victim and suspects know each other and this was not a random act, so there is no risk to public safety. The search is on for a newer model red four door GMC with a black tonneau cover and black box rails.
Police say there was originally an interaction at the Skate Board Park around 12:30 in the morning on Sunday, moments prior to the collision on 22nd Street East. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or submit a confidential tip to Crime Stoppers.
