On Saturday, Premiere Scott Moe and four other premiers from across the country called on the federal government to treat all Canadian’s equally and consider removing the federal carbon tax from all forms of home heating.
Moe, along with the premiers of Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, composed and signed a letter to the government, which stated that winter is coming, and all citizens of Canada deserve a break. The letter says singling out Atlantic Canadians has caused division across the country, and the document concluded with the request of a meeting to discuss the issue.
This comes after two weeks of debate following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement of a pause of the carbon tax for those who use home heating oil, which is commonly used in Atlantic Canada.
