The former chief of Cowessess First Nation will be speaking in Saskatoon as part of Access to Justice Week.
Brea Lowenberger, Access to Justice Coordinator, says the first nation has led the country in child welfare reform, and serves as a great example of new ways to envision law and justice. Cadmus Delorme’s speech will be taking place on Monday at the College of Law at noon.
Other events include a free library legal resource fair at Saskatoon Public Library, a family law clinic, and a book launch called Creating a Seat at the Table. The book is a collection of reflections from 18 women as they navigated through law school and the legal profession.
Lowenberger says the goal of the week-long event is to highlight and introduce initiatives that are in place across the province to improve access to justice for residents. It is also intended to engage fresh voices in the conversation regarding improving Saskatchewan’s justice system.
