Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Crates and Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Paint are being recalled because there is an ingestion hazard.

The toys are intended for children aged 2-years and older. Health Canada says each train car features a connector containing a high-powered magnet which allows the train car to be connected to other train cars but the small plastic piece containing a high-powered magnet to connect the trains can detach or become loose. Consumers should immediately stop using the toys and contact Mattel to return the product in exchange for a full refund.

As of October 13, the company has received no reports of the plastic connector becoming loose and detaching from the product in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received one report of the plastic connector becoming loose and detaching from the product and no reports of injuries.

Health Canada says small, powerful magnets can be easily swallowed by children of all ages and when more than one powerful magnet is swallowed in a short period of time, the magnets can attract one another while moving through the intestines. This can cause the intestines to twist, creating blockages or tearing of the intestinal walls.
