The federal and provincial governments announced on Wednesday funding to upgrade the sewage lagoon at Danielson Provincial Park on Lake Diefenbaker.

Both governments will be investing $365,000 to ensure the sewage lagoon complies with regulatory requirements. The province says these improvements are critical to serving the needs of park visitors and better protecting the environment.

The Government of Canada’s portion of the funding will be coming from the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. This was part of a joint announcement of more than $1.7 million for two green projects in the province.

The other project is upgrades to the water system at Narrow Hills Provincial Park. At Narrow Hills existing systems will be consolidated into a single water treatment and distribution facility to improve efficiency. This will include the construction of a new water treatment plant, potable water treatment equipment and a new backup well.
