Two new dog parks dedicated to small dogs have been opened in Saskatoon. Charlottetown Dog Park is a nearly one-acre space behind the Cosmo Civic Centre, that is equipped with dual-gate entry, mature shade trees, and concrete entry-way pads.
Hyde Dog Park is located in the southeast of the city now features two separate off-leash areas, one for small dogs as well as the original dedicated to dogs of all sizes.
At the ceremonial opening for the parks, Recreation Services Manager, Brad Babyak, says “Implementation of these dedicated spaces will help prevent potential unnecessary conflict between small and large dogs and improve safety for owners and their pets.”
Dogs bigger than 40 cm at the shoulder and over 9 kg are not considered a small dog, but they are welcome to enjoy any of the other 11 dog parks throughout the city.
