A Candle Lake man is facing 16 charges after allegedly assaulting someone with a firearm outside of a residence.
On August 10, Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP responded to the report of an assault with a firearm in Candle Lake. Upon arrival, officers say they located and arrested the man on scene. He was released the following morning on an undertaking.
Five days later on August 15th, officers executed a search warrant at the man’s residence which resulted in the seizure of 23 firearms, a crossbow and 100,000 rounds of ammunition. Fifty-year-old Steven Mitchell was arrested again and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Steven Mitchell is charged with:
– Pointing a firearm,
– Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
– Assault police officer
– Attempt to disarm police officer,
– Four counts, Possession of firearms knowing possession is unauthorized
– Three counts, Possession of prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition
