For the last ten years, the Northern Engagement and Community Outreach team at the University of Saskatchewan has been doing veterinary clinics in northern communities.
This weekend, NECO Director Dr. Jordan Wordsworth says their team is in La Ronge. During the team’s two annual trips to La Ronge, they perform vet check-ups, spays, neuters, and also do some community engagement. This trip, she hopes to perform about 90 surgeries on cats and dogs and 70 vet check-ups.
She says it’s a huge opportunity for the organization, and they get to bring final-year veterinary students with them to help out.
Sunday is the last day of the four-day clinic. Wordsworth says the team always has a huge demand for their services, and they try to make two trips a year to La Ronge.
