Comedies, dramas and even a musical will be featured in the 18 shows of the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, which begins tomorrow (Thurs). Artistic and Executive Director, Anita Smith, says this year’s lineup of entertainment and activities includes a little bit of the old and a whole lot of the new.
She explains that last year, unlike previous years, Broadway Avenue wasn’t closed to vehicle traffic between the bridge and 8th Street, with entertainment, food and a sidewalk sale. This year, Broadway will be closed off for two days only, on Saturday and Sunday. Smith explains that people really wanted to be able to meander on Broadway as part of their experience, so they brought it back for those two days.
Otherwise, all of the outdoor activities are happening on 11th Street between Broadway and Dufferin Avenues and in W.E. Graham Park behind Ecole Victoria School. You can click here for more information on the indoor shows and how to get your tickets. Smith notes that along with the shows, there are also street performers, an Art Walk, a Fun Run, food trucks, an artisan market and a beer garden. The Fringe Festival runs from August 3rd to 12th.
